Echo Software License Terms
Last updated: December 9, 2025
These Software License Terms ("License Terms") govern your use of the Echo desktop software ("Echo" or the "Software") provided by Echo Automation ("Company", "we", "us", or "our").
By installing or using Echo, you agree to be bound by these License Terms, together with our Terms of Service and End User License Agreement (EULA) (collectively, the "Agreements"). If you do not agree, do not install or use Echo.
1. License Grant
1.1 Limited license
Subject to your continuous compliance with the Agreements (including payment of any applicable fees), we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:
- install and run Echo on one or more computers that you own or control, and
- use Echo solely for your own internal purposes (personal use or internal business use), as permitted by your purchased license type.
1.2 No ownership transfer
Echo is licensed, not sold. All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved by the Company and its licensors.
2. Permitted Use
Subject to these License Terms, you may:
- Use Echo to record and replay macros and automations on your own Devices.
- Use Echo for personal or business tasks within your organization's internal environment.
- Make a reasonable number of backup copies of the Software for archival purposes, provided that each copy retains all copyright and proprietary notices and is not used concurrently on more Devices than allowed by your license.
3. Restrictions
Unless expressly permitted in writing by the Company, you must not:
- Resell or redistribute Echo, your license key, or any activation credentials to third parties.
- Share license keys beyond what is permitted by your purchased license (for example, sharing a single-user key across multiple unrelated users or organizations).
- Rent, lease, sublicense, or lend the Software to any third party.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of Echo, except to the limited extent that applicable law expressly permits despite this restriction.
- Modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works based on Echo or any part of the Software.
- Remove, alter, or obscure any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices on or in the Software.
- Bypass, disable, or tamper with any license enforcement, activation, or security mechanisms.
- Use Echo to violate any applicable law, or to automate actions that violate the terms of service or acceptable use policies of third-party services.
- Use Echo to create, distribute, or operate malware, spyware, ransomware, or any other harmful or abusive software.
You are solely responsible for how you use the Software and for any automations you create with it.
4. License Keys and Activation
4.1 License keys
Use of Echo beyond any trial period may require a valid license key or subscription. You agree to:
- only use license keys obtained directly from the Company or an authorized reseller; and
- keep your license key confidential and secure.
4.2 Device binding and validation
To prevent unauthorized sharing of license keys and to enforce device limits, Echo may:
- generate and send a hashed hardware identifier and other technical data to our licensing service; and
- periodically validate your license status while you use the Software.
The types of data processed for license activation and validation are described in our Privacy Policy.
4.3 Unauthorized use
If we detect that a license key is being used in violation of these License Terms (for example, shared beyond permitted limits or used for piracy), we may suspend or revoke that license without refund and may block further use of the key.
5. Intellectual Property
Echo and all associated intellectual property rights (including, without limitation, software code, designs, logos, and documentation) are and will remain the exclusive property of the Company and its licensors.
These License Terms do not grant you any rights in or to the trademarks, trade names, or logos of the Company, except as necessary to use the Software in accordance with these License Terms.
6. Updates and Changes
We may provide updates, patches, or new versions of Echo from time to time. Unless a particular update is accompanied by separate terms, those updates:
- are considered part of the Software; and
- are licensed to you under these same License Terms.
We are not obligated to provide any particular feature, update, or level of support, and we may modify or discontinue features at any time, subject to applicable law and any specific commitments we have made in paid plans.
7. Term and Termination
7.1 Term
These License Terms remain in effect from the time you first install or use Echo until terminated by you or by us.
7.2 Termination by you
You may terminate your license at any time by uninstalling the Software from all Devices and ceasing all use. Unless required by law or by a specific refund policy, termination by you does not entitle you to any refund.
7.3 Termination by us
We may suspend or terminate your license and/or your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, if:
- you breach these License Terms or any other part of the Agreements;
- you fail to pay fees when due; or
- we are required to do so by law or court order.
Upon termination, you must stop using the Software and uninstall it from all Devices. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as ownership, restrictions, disclaimers, and limitations of liability) will continue to apply.
8. No Warranty
Echo is provided to you "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, and any warranties that the Software will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that any errors can or will be corrected.
You are responsible for testing and verifying your automations before relying on them in critical or production environments.
For full details, please refer to the warranty disclaimers in our Terms of Service and EULA.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or related to your use of the Software, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise, shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Software in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or one hundred (100) USD if you have not made any purchase.
In no event shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or business interruption, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
For full details, please refer to the limitation of liability provisions in our Terms of Service and EULA.
10. Relationship to Other Agreements
These License Terms are intended to be read together with our Terms of Service and End User License Agreement (EULA) (collectively, the "Agreements").
If there is any conflict between these License Terms and the EULA, the EULA shall prevail for installation and use of the Software.
If there is any conflict between these License Terms and the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service shall prevail for use of our website and online services.
Nothing in these License Terms limits any rights you may have under mandatory consumer protection law in your jurisdiction.
